Van Gogh inspired Starry Night Paintings

My students shared their version of Van Gogh's Starry Night.  We did an artist study on Van Gogh and learned many interesting things about him.  Did you know he painted The Starry Night while he was in the hospital?  We looked at several of his art works on you tube that were set to the song "Starry Night".  Then we looked at a great clip of Sophia who is 5 showing my students how to create Impasto paintings and watching her paint the moon from Van Gogh's painting.  My students loved seeing her clip and how she created the moon.  The links are below.
My kinders - 2nd graders focused more on the moon and my older students focused on what they felt like creating as they were inspired by Van Gogh.  We are sending these into the MY CARDS program from Mountain Color Inc at www.mountaincolor.com to have my students art work created into note cards and raise a little money for my art room.
